Trying for Blue Pools

We first visited Blue Pools on our way to Wanaka from the West Coast. As you’ll remember, we were in a bit of a rain storm at the time, so when we did this walk to a junction of two rivers coming out of the West Coast mountains, we found roaring rapids of a grayish green color. Turns out, “Blue Pools” is not so blue or so pool-like after big storms. It was still quite nice, but when we drove by the walk again about a week later, we figured we would check it out again. This time around it was much more of a blue pool experience, as you’ll see in the photos below, but from what we hear, this still isn’t their prime state. We’ve decided we should start a new business called arethebluepoolsblue.com, along the lines of isitsnowingintahoe.com.
