Discovering Glenorchy and Paradise

Glenorchy is a tiny little town at the northern tip of Lake Wakatipu, and the drive there from Queenstown is incredibly scenic. Apparently a lot of LOTR filming was done in the mountains just north of here, so there are a number of ways you can take film scene tours – horseback, 4×4, hiking, etc., but we opted to just enjoy the drive, look around at the town, visit the dock, and take a few photos.

A few more k’s past Glenorchy is the even tinier town (more just a clumping of farms) of Paradise. There are a number of sheep there having a really nice time, divided between three farms and not much else. The surroundings are pretty beautiful – perhaps worthy of the name if the weather tends to be fair most days.
